Ai level and getting bug reports?
One of the bigest problems with being a single dev that try to do as much as possible by me self!
Finding all the wacky bugs before a release to find them when you download and play your release by your self.
I changed a line in the enemy ai to find the ai slide down the floor slightly and be more dumb then planned .
It took a while until i noticed it because you nead to play your own game over and over again to usually find them.
And i must say iam pretty tired now of my own game ;)
The problem with bugs is that they sometimes occur when you use a specific playstyle or do specific tasks that you maybe not always do when trying the code you have written..
I have written the game engine with ai and everything from scratch because i find it fun to code and doddle some art by my self.
But the problem with ai for mobiles is how smart should the enemys be for a game to be fun?
Do i have to write a specific ai for a computer release because computers have better controls?
I used a very dumb ai from the start that used a plain tiled line of sight and a raycasting eyesight to takeover if neaded.
I dont want the ai to be to smart as its a retro fps shump in my head and not the next gears of war.
This is only some small thoughts i have after finding a game breaking bug in 2.4 and 2.5 and dont know how long its bin there?
I got no reports but only positiv reviews so far on android so i did not even know it where there until i played it on my phone at work !
I uploaded a fix in version 2.6 last night where i still tryed to keep the dumbed down ai but still smarter.
I think my biggest problem is probably that i usually upload new versions before work and find them while working and i have no control of fixing them.
The drawback of being a single indi dev is if you get messy and upload to many buggy games so will people not download the next one you release.
Small thoughts before work i have and dont know if you agree.
Computer version is coming this weekend with many fixes and new artwork.
